The Nigerian Navy School of Armament Technology (NNSAT) has taken steps to strengthen indigenous defence capability following an operational training visit on Tuesday, 31 March 2026, to the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON). The visit was aimed at exploring opportunities for collaboration and enhancing technical capacity in armament technology and defence production.
The NNSAT team, comprising the Commandant NNSAT, Commodore CA Isah, four officers and two instructor ratings, received a comprehensive briefing on DICON’s mandate and its critical role in the local production of military equipment, including small arms, ammunition, and other defence-related hardware that support Nigeria’s defence logistics.
During the visit, the NNSAT training team was conducted on a guided tour of the corporation’s production and engineering facilities by Director General DICON, Major General BI Alaya, ably represented by the Director Engineering Services, Commodore IU Agwu where various stages of arms and ammunition manufacturing, equipment maintenance, and ongoing research activities were showcased.
The engagement provided an opportunity for both institutions to identify areas of collaboration in technical training, research and development, maintenance of armament systems, and support for indigenous defence production, further strengthening inter-agency cooperation in support of national defence objectives.
