The Commandant, Nigerian Navy School of Armament Technology (NNSAT), Kachia, Commodore Chikaji Aminu Isah, on 10 September 2026, received the Commander, 233 Small Arms and Light Weapons Group (233 SALWG), Group Captain Emmanuel Osuwa, and members of his entourage, on an operational and courtesy visit to the School. The visit, which formed part of the operational mandate of the unit, aimed to enable it to explore possible areas of collaboration between the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and NNSAT.
In his remarks, the Commander stated that he is the second Commander of 233 SALWG, following the separation of the Unit from the 633 Central Ammunition Depot, Makurdi. He further explained that 233 SALWG was established as a central field coordinating unit responsible for the accounting, storage, receipt and issuance of small arms and light weapons within NAF. He stated that the purpose of the visit was to foster seamless inter-Service collaboration, enhance synergy between the defence and sister Services, build capacity and explore other areas of mutual benefit.
In his response, the Commandant NNSAT, commended the Commander for the visit and noted that he is a strong advocate for inter-service collaboration. He assured the Commander of the School’s readiness to maintain an open channel of liaison and collaboration with 233 SALWG, with a view to identifying better ways of enhancing the capabilities and performance of both units. Furthermore, the Commandant NNSAT expressed the School’s readiness in providing training weapon handling, armoury management and parade drill, as well as other relevant trainning areas that could enhance the professional competence and performance of personnel.
The visit presented an opportunity for both units to discuss areas of mutual interest and strengthen inter-service collaboration. The visit concluded with the presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph at the Commandant’s office.
